♦LIFE ON THE ROAD prologue

Akira stopped, looking over the class as he tried to speak. The words he'd studied so much, read again and again, the ones he kept in his head, he should have spoken just perfectly, just didn't want to come out. They got caught in his throat, and at his expression, as usual, the class started laughing.

It was normal for that to happen, but the boy wasn't to be faulted for it, he was born completely unstable. From embarrassed and afraid, his mind started taking in the laugher and the words aimed at him, and he threw down the papers, running out of the classroom and crying. So many voices, so confusing, a headache… he could never understand why something so simple could be so bad to him.

But it was, and he knew all those mixed, confused voices and loud laugher, all those words, all those faces, all that complete mess would haunt him until something else happened. It was always like that, he had tried everything he knew, but it just didn't work. Only one thing did, but he couldn't use that all the time. Definitely not in school.

While running, he hadn't noticed where he was going, what he was doing, or anything around him until he bumped into something. Someone, for the feel of it. Someone much taller than him.

Gasping, he felt himself falling back from the impact. Before he hit the floor, the other person caught him and held him up. Carefully, he opened his tear filled eyes and found himself trapped in a hug. Through his blurry vision, he noticed the very familiar hair of the person that was now hugging him, said person kneeling to do so.

"Don't cry…" The person said softly, running a hair through his dark hair. Akira felt his heart beating fast as the headache slowly left, letting his tired body rest slightly against the other one. The elder boy wiped the tears away from his face and looked at him, smiling softly.

"… R-Ryoichi-san…" Akira looked away, blushing softly and pouting. "S-sorry for that…"

Ryoichi Yuu, the other boy, nodded softly. "It's fine… but why were you crying?" For the record, he still hadn't let the dark haired fourteen year old out of his hug.

"… Nothing… just some people at class were laughing and I overreacted." Muttered the younger, smiling softly to cover it. He didn't like looking weak, and this boy… fifteen year old Ryoichi Yuu, a very intelligent boy who was also very tall and talented in music, with a soft and calming voice that could be angry and violent at times, it was just incredible. And he was handsome.

"They shouldn't laugh at you… Tsukiyama-kun." Yuu smiled again, releasing the other from the hug, and picking up his books. "Let's get something to eat, and then you can calm down more."

"… Y-you… know my name?" Akira blinked, blushing more. That was a surprise for him, he was so little and insignificant compared to the other boy, and yet his name was known by him…

"Of course I know your name." The taller nodded, chuckling softly, somewhat sweetly. "You have good grades in music, I tend to pay attention to that… and you're always sitting alone at lunch, too… you could hang out with us, if you want to."

"… T-there's no need… I'm fine alone… I just… never was good with social things." The younger stood, still looking down. "... Don't you have class, Ryoichi-san?" He blinked.

"It's okay, it's not much of anything. And come on, let's get something to eat, I'll get the things I miss in class from Kei. Oh, and call me only Yuu…"

Akira blinked, then smiled, still having a small blush. "Thanks… eh… Yuu…" He nodded, following the other. "And you can… call me just Akira, too."

"Good." Yuu nodded, looking at the shorter boy as they walked. The grades weren't the only reason he knew him, because unknown to the boy, the elder one had been watching him recently. To the blond, Akira was just too cute not to be noticed.
